Australia’s beaches are some of the most stunning beaches on the planet. Beauty doesn’t always mean safety however. Use common sense and stay safe from dangerous sea life and protect yourself from the sun. I always make sure to pack plenty of water, slap on some SPF50+ sunscreen, and throw on a hat and sunglasses to protect myself from the strong Australia sun. Avoiding peak sun hours (10 am to 4 pm) is also a must.

The number one beach safety tip is to stick to patrolled beaches with the red and yellow flags that indicate this beach is guarded by lifeguards. The Beachsafe App is so handy for finding these beaches so refer to that before heading out to a remote beach. Also, be super cautious about rip currents. Remember, if you get caught, stay calm, float, raise an arm for help, or swim parallel to the shore if you can.
